September 2007

I'm a week plus one day late doing the web page this month! Sorry, fans of Lily! I usually have to stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning to get the new pictures added (it's 1:26 a.m. as I'm finishing this), and this past week, I wasn't up for any late nights. But I'm happy that several of you were bugging Michelle about where the new web page was. Lily has fans!

We continued potty training this month. Lily is doing well now, but there were several days where she had multiple accidents. I had to go out of town without her twice, and the accidents were right when I came back, so maybe those were connected. By the end of the month, though, she was doing both Number 1 and Number 2 routinely in the potty every day. (Sorry if that's too much information for you non-parents out there!)

There were three mornings this month that I had to take Lily to day care in the morning without Michelle's help, and I don't know how to put her hair in pony tails or braids. So she went in with her hair down!

Michelle gave Lily two braids and then tied them up against Lily's head somehow. I thought the tight hairdo looked cute but made her look like Evita Peron. Michelle was pleased that her daughter resembled a semi-fascist head of state!

The day care teachers also do Lily's hair sometimes. They can make a really long curl in Lily's hair, and we don't know how! It only works on one side of her hair. It may be due to the direction of the curl that it only works on one side.

Lily wanted to comb our hair, so we let her. She hasn't done anything weird to my hair -- that's what it looks like without a shower!

Our front garden was overgrown with weeds, and we also had weeds in the lawn. I paid some guy who knows what to do about it (I don't), and now the yard looks much better. I thought I better take some pictures before the weeds come back!

A day care project was to put pictures of Lily's family members on a leaf. (I don't know why it had to be a leaf -- family "tree"?) The pictures are tiny, but maybe if you enlarge it many of you will see yourselves there.

Here's a movie Michelle took of Lily saying hi to her Lola, Papa, Grandma, and Grandpa. (Click to watch it, or download it here.)

Lily started taking a computer class at day care called Giggle Bytes. She likes the class and quickly got much better at using a mouse. She can now play her Dora The Explorer computer game all by herself.

There's a "Learn Through Music" game Lily's had a long time, but she's gotten a lot more interested in it now that she recognizes the characters (Dora, Diego, SpongeBob, Elmo, etc.) It has a microphone she talks into. Here she was saying, "I love Mommy!" into the microphone.

Early this month (September 2nd), my Grandma Nuhfer in Ohio passed away. She was 89 years old. We decided to leave Lily home since she has been doing pretty well with potty training, and 24 hours in a car would most likely undo her progress, so I drove there alone. The funeral home made a DVD out of photos my family provided, and here are some of the photos of her with my Grandpa. The young girl in the second picture is my mom, and in the third picture is my sister Carrie.

When I got back from Ohio, I drove straight to the Willises, because that's where Lily was! Here the girls are playing on a rock in their front yard.

We went to the park one Saturday morning and saw Shawn there, who goes to day care with her. She spent the whole time playing with him.

We like getting Lily together with Madeline and Cameron, because they play together, and us parents get a little break. The kids were playing a Twister-like game where you have to stand on the right color and shape, and also a Bingo-like board game. Bill and I took the chance to relax and drink some beer.

I asked Michelle to take a couple of pictures of me with Lily, since normally I'm the one taking most of the pictures. I don't want her to think I was never around when she looks back at these!

Cameron started playing soccer, so we went to his soccer games. He scored a goal the first time we went, and I think another one the second time.

Here are Cameron's fans watching the game.

Michelle helped keep the girls entertained on the sidelines.

Lily and Madeline had fun climbing and walking on the bleachers. We didn't intentionally dress them in matching outfits!

Here's a movie of the two girls walking back and forth together on the bleachers. It sounds pretty dull, I guess, but it kept them happy. (Click to watch it, or download it here.)

Michelle has still been very disciplined about her Weight Watchers plan, and is looking seriously hot!!

Here's a habit Lily picked up from me that irritates Michelle: keeping Kleenexes in her pocket! I have a runny nose most of the year, so I save napkins and stuff my pockets with them. In Boston I realized that one of my coats had collected about a hundred napkins in its pockets!

I saw this cool cloud formation making for an interesting sunset one evening. Luckily I had my trusty iPhone with me to snap a picture.

On October 1st I turned 40. Ugh! Oh well, it had to happen eventually. In this movie Lily is singing Happy Birthday to me, though it doesn't sound much like the normal song! (Click to watch it, or download it here.)
