Month 13, February 2006

February was a big party month! After Lily's party on the 4th, Cailey had one on the 11th, and Madeline had one on the 25th. (None of these dates are their actual birthdays.) All of us parents can hopefully look forward to some calmer weekends next month.

Lily has been eager to wear hats lately, and gets upset if we take her hat off. (This started in Week 52.)

As happened with the hats, she used to fight us if we put shoes on her, but now she likes wearing shoes all the time. In these pictures, she brought her shoes to me so I would put them on over her pajamas!

Here are a few outfits from this month.

Lola bought a miniature Thomas the Train set to match Lily's ride-on one. I set up the track and started it running, but it was very short-lived. The train-wrecking monster, "God-Lil-a", destroyed it! She also enjoyed holding down the moving train wheels so that they made an unhealthy click-click-click-ing sound.

You may notice that the zoomed-in train pictures above look blurry on the left side. The reason is this thumbprint Lily put on the camera shortly before I took those!

Here's Cailey opening presents at her party (with some help from Mom).

The usual suspects were all there: brother Colin, friends Madeline and Cameron, and of course Lily. The third one is a great picture of Cameron!

In addition to her big birthday cake, Cailey had her own small one to dig into, and clearly enjoyed it. She's blowing out the candle in the middle picture (telekinetically, we have to assume -- I didn't see her lips move).

One of Cailey's presents was a shopping cart with fake food in it, and the kids kept trying to eat the fake food!

At Madeline's party, Lily was happy to let Michelle Willis hold her. The two Michelles often come together to pick up Lily and Madeline from day care, so Lily now associates Michelle W. with Mommy coming. The fourth picture has the Mommies holding mismatched babies.

Here are Madeline's big and little birthday cakes. She did a great job of smearing the little cake all over herself!

Michelle endangered Cailey's life by teaching her to climb up the stairs. Christine retaliated by helping Lily climb them too!

The boys ran around and played at the party. Colin is pretending not to like Mommy's kisses, but we know better.

Madison and Reed are some of Madeline's friends that came to the party.

This is Reagan, another friend of Madeline's. Her twin sister Riley was at home sleeping.

We got photos of Madeline with Lily and Cailey (firt picture), and with Reed and Reagan (second picture).

Madeline wore a birthday tiara and this stunning dress by Vera Wang. (Okay, maybe it's not by Vera.)

Colin shared the loveseat with Madison.

Madeline played with the tissue paper while her mom opened the presents.

All this partying tired Madeline out!

After Madeline's party, Michelle reluctantly agreed to let Lily learn to climb the stairs at home (supervised). She had so much fun! Part of the thrill was being allowed past the baby gate!

Carrie sent some recent photos of cousin Becca. She's 4 months old now.
