Month 16, May 2006

My friend Mark came to visit, and we downed some beers using the beer mugs we got when we were groomsmen at each other's weddings. Mark had some time to play with Lily, which is good training because he'll have a baby of his own in a few months.

We took another trip to the zoo last weekend, and saw some flamingos, elephants, a rhino, seals, and a polar bear. Lily didn't want to get too close to the polar bear! Doesn't she look cool in her sunglasses?

Lily doesn't usually get to see Sesame Street because it comes on at 8 a.m., when she's already at day care. But she likes it. We got to see it here because she went to day care late so I could take her to the doctor for her 15-month shots. She does watch a lot of TV with us, though, especially SpongeBob SquarePants, Fairly Oddparents, and Jimmy Neutron in the mornings before work.

Since Lily has always liked splashing around in the bathtub, we bought her this water toy (looks kind of like a fountain). She got soaking wet! But she was happy.

We also got her a baby pool for a mere eight bucks at Wal-Mart.

Another eight bucks got us the same container to put her colored balls in. She plays in this almost every morning and every evening.

For some reason she kept putting one of her toy boxes on her head. There's a picture of me as a baby doing the same thing.

She drives around in her car occasionally, though she can't steer it yet. Notice the helmet she chose to wear.

Michelle and Lily wore cute matching red-and-black outfits one day! In the middle picture we told her to touch her nose. This is one of a few verbal commands she seems to understand.

Lily likes playing with big Legos. She used to wait for me to build something, and she would demolish it, but now she can stack them up herself (after which she still demolishes them).

Lily's T-shirt lists the "Toddler Laws of Property". "1. If I like it, it's mine." "2. If it's in my hand, it's mine." "3. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine." And so on!

We bought her a white board to stick magnetic letters on, and a chalkboard. We also bought her crayons and whiteboard markers (not shown). The whiteboard markers are her favorite.

We bought this little gold crown for her birthday party but didn't use it. Lily found it and wanted to wear it.

She often squirms around in her sleep, and here she's climbed halfway off her little bed. It doesn't look comfortable! But she stayed that way for hours.
