Week 34, Sep. 21-27

Lily had to adjust to her new teachers in the Infants 2 room this week. She cried the first few mornings when I dropped her off at day care, but now she's warming up to her new surroundings and has gotten more comfortable.

We bought a new portable crib to put in our bedroom (which replaces a Pack-N-Play we had there earlier). Lily's been waking up a lot during the night in her crib upstairs in recent weeks, so we'll try putting her to sleep in our bedroom occasionally. If nothing else, it will be a shorter walk to get to her when she cries!

Lily likes watching TV, especially animated shows. She's seen Sesame Street a couple of times, though only for a few minutes (her attention span isn't that long yet).

Last week we put a throw rug on the floor so Lily could play in front of us while we ate dinner or watched TV, but she crawls so fast now she'll end up in other rooms quickly. So we moved her play yard (i.e. "cage") to this room. Here she is playing with a musical monkey that moves around. I'm not sure she likes it, because she usually just hits it and knocks it over a lot!

Lily's been doing a great job standing when supported by one hand. It's especially impressive because that play yard is not very rigid and moves around most of the time when she's holding it.

Some of her facial expressions crack me up!

You've heard about kids ignoring a toy you bought them and playing with the box? Despite our big toy tab at Babies R Us, Lily's just as happy playing with a paper towel.

The top caps of her bottles are also entertaining. Sometimes she holds the cap to her mouth and makes "whoah-whoah-whoah" sounds so it echoes. (I tried to get it on video, but of course she stopped doing it then.)

Here's a new outfit she wore this week.

Mommy has been playing games with Lily, holding a purple teething ring in her mouth, and letting Lily grab it in her own mouth! They're passing a pacifier back and forth in the last picture. If you think this is gross because you're getting a baby's saliva on you, you're obviously not a parent yet. Far grosser things than that happen every day!
