Week 5, Mar. 2-8

Lily started teething! Yes, this is very early, but Michelle was teething too at 4 weeks old, and her cousin Missy had three teeth at birth. I tried to take a picture of her gums with little white patches on them, but it's extremely difficult to get a newborn to hold still while you pry her jaws open and point a camera in her mouth.

Lily's been in the car a couple of times while we ran errands, but on Saturday (Mar. 5), she came into a store with us for the first time (Babies R Us), riding in her stroller. I forgot to take a picture of it though. The funniest part of our Babies R Us visit was that two couples in the store asked us for baby advice! Like we have any idea what we're doing!!

Here's a close-up of our Lilo! She has baby acne, which the books say is due to leftover hormones from Mom. We've started washing her face daily to help that.

She can hold her own bottle a little bit, but not for very long yet.

We practice standing and sitting up, and her legs are just starting to support her weight for a few seconds.

Here she is in her Baby Einstein activity center. So far she doesn't respond much to it, except for the music box that plays (that's what she's looking at). She likes music and other sounds, but doesn't pay attention to visual objects yet, even if we wiggle brightly colored toys near her face.

I tried putting her in our papasan chair, which lets her sit a little more upright without being in someone's lap. I rotate the chair so she can look around the room, which she seems to like.

Lily's starting to smile more. Happy babies are so cute!
