Week 51, Jan. 18-24

Lily has been walking a lot this week! I think she walks more often than she crawls now.

Now that we've had almost a year's experience with a baby in the house, we thought we better cover up the hardwood floor in the family room with a carpet to soak up spills and stains. It's not nailed down, so we can replace it easily if it gets trashed. Lily walked from Michelle to me in the time it took me to snap the second and third pictures. Good girl!

When we cleared out her toys to put down the carpet, Lily got very agitated. ("Where are they taking all my stuff?!?") Michelle got her back in good spirits, lifting her in the air and twirling her around. Mommy looks like she was having fun too!

Once the furniture was back in the room, all of us were tired, Lily included. Her Pooh couch folds out into a bed, so she took a nap in it.

The roller coaster is probably her favorite toy now. She can crawl up into it by herself, and pushed the on/off button once. Notice she's backward and standing up in the third photo! Little daredevil. The colored balls are for a ball pit we'll use at her birthday party.

Usually Lily sits with Michelle when she's getting tired, but sometimes she sits with me. It's relaxing, provided she holds still! In the third photo she's holding a picture of Grandpa Ken. I kept pointing to the photo and saying "Grandpa" or "Papa", but she kept pointing at him and saying "Dada!"

At Caroline's party (Week 45), one of the kids had a popper toy that you push, and Lily wanted it. So we bought one (big surprise). We tried to get her to play with it this week, but instead of pushing it, she just carried it around! Well, I guess she can play with it however she wants.

Our pediatrician said a good way to move babies from bottles to sippy cups is to put water in their bottles, and then they won't like them anymore. This would never work with Lily. She likes water better than milk! She carts her water cup around when she's walking or crawling. In these pictures she's in the kitchen, and you can see by the sink that we finally tied one pair of cabinet doors shut (cleaning supplies are in there).

Lily had her first TV dinner this week! "Kid Cuisine". We don't cook much, so there may be many more of these in her future.

She doesn't always like the dinner food we give her, but she will take a Cheeto anytime!

You can see Lily's teeth in these photos. She has four, two on top and two on bottom. There are also two more coming in on top (that you probably can't see here).

In a pinch, a CD can be used as a teething ring! (Luckily it's not a CD I need for anything.)

Homer and Lily are having a chat. As you might guess from my Simpsons jammies, there is a lot of Simpsons-related merchandise in our house!
