Week 52, Jan. 25-31

This is the last week of Lily's first year!

We tried putting a hat on Lily this weekend, expecting that she wouldn't like it. But she didn't want us to take it off! So she wore the hat all day.

With Lily turning 1 year old next week, we thought it was close enough to turn her car seat around so it faces forward. She likes it much better now! There is a lot more to see, and her legs are more comfortable. And after a year of riding in the back seat to keep Lily company, Michelle got to move back up front with me!

Lily walked around Sam's Club while we were shopping. She fell a few times on the hard floor there, and one of the times she bit her lip and cried. But a few minutes later she was back walking around. Uh-oh, she's already checking out the jewelry display.

Michelle gave her an Oreo, and unlike the last fiasco where I took it away and she cried (Week 46 -- I thought she would choke on it), this time it ended happily. Granted, it looks like most of the Oreo ended up on her face!

Here are some outfits she wore this week.

Colin and Cailey had these nice photos taken at Portrait Innovations recently. We'll be going back there soon for Lily's 1-year-old pictures.

Lily had a birthday party at Greentree today (Feb. 1st), and we brought in snacks for Cailey, Madeline, and the other babies there. Her real birthday is Thursday, and we're having a party at home on Saturday.

The party cuisine included Cheetos for everyone! Apparently Lily's not the only baby that likes them.

There was also cake, which the girls mistook for a face cream.

Despite the party atmosphere, the toddlers seemed to be having a serious meeting, led by my rabble-rousing daughter. Here's what I think they were saying:

Lily: "Comrades, we have been oppressed by our teachers and parents for too long!"

"We cannot fight them alone, but united, we can triumph!"

Madeline: "Madame Chairman, I volunteer to lead our troops into battle!"

Lily: "Excellent, General! We will strike at dawn."
